Meet the Creative behind our wedding and celebratory cheese towers…
August 2022
Wedding Cheese Towers created with Artisan cheese by Kirstie at The Good Cheese Company, Cheshire.
It has been 8 years this month since I first secured a role at the Good Cheese Company, I had recently graduated with a foundation degree in Contemporary Art practice, my specialism being installation and surface pattern, I had great aspirations however, being a single Mum, my priority was quite rightly my children and earning a regular salary took precedence! Although I have always worked, the previous decade had been dedicated to my kids; My choices were clear at this stage, either topping up to a full degree or throwing myself into acquiring a career; I chose the latter, and I haven’t looked back! I have sunk my teeth into the business and have become as passionate about it as Mike!
From the beginning I have constantly engaged my creative brain and looked for ways to develop the business. Initially, product knowledge was key and developing a good working relationship with our customers, cheese makers, and suppliers.
My days of delivering orders have long since gone however, when delivering was part of my role, I took this opportunity to talk to the customers, gain an understanding of their expectations, what they wanted and most importantly to build a trust and a solid foundation.
It wasn’t long before we were expanding, our products increased, our customer base increased and we purchased another small business which involved cutting cheese into ‘pre-pack portions’ for our newly acquired shop customers in and around the Cheshire area. Grated Belton Farm mature cheddar and bespoke cheese boards also now on the menu! https://www.beltonfarm.co.uk/
During the former period of the pandemic, I re- built our website, (with, of course the help of a professional!) online shopping being the new norm for the majority, I introduced an online shop, spending hours photographing the products, learning how to upload them on WordPress and getting us ready for hopefully what would be an online invasion!
In April 2021, we began planning to move premises; we needed more space and for those who actually visited our previous premises I am sure would agree, we desperately needed a more impressionable area of work. After weeks and weeks of painting and preparing, our unit at Rose Farm in Utkinton, Tarporley was complete and in June 2021, we moved in. https://www.google.com/maps/place/The+Good+Cheese+Company

We now had an additional meeting room, this proved to be a very valuable part of the planning process; the space to accommodate 6 people comfortably, what could be better than a ‘cheese tasting’ room within a cheese wholesale environment? When an enquiry is made for a celebratory cheese tower or platter, an invitation to attend a tasting with of course, a glass of wine or prosecco is offered.
This service has been a huge success, an evening or Saturday afternoon tasting cheese and ‘building’ a cheese tower together for a special occasion, has been increasingly popular. I know exactly which cheeses look fabulous and pair well so, I always have a wide selection on hand for our guests to try and choose.
