The Good Cheese Company
August Newsletter 007
With the wedding season now in full swing, bookings for Cheese towers have accelerated particularly since the easing of restrictions earlier in the month.
If you are looking for something special for a wedding or event, then look no further!
We will make an appointment with the Bride and Groom and up to 6 people (nothing to do with rule of 6, we only have 6 stools in the wedding room!) to come into The Good Cheese Company and taste some of our delicious cheeses, we will help to create a custom designed cheese tower to suit taste, theme and budget we even offer a glass of prosecco to everyone during the tasting!!
An ‘undressed’ cheese tower, A Bride and Groom came over for a taster, these are the cheeses they selected; Belton Red Leicester & Belton Coloured Cheshire as a base tier, Blacksticks Blue, Cornish Brie, Cornish Yarg and finally topped with a Godminster waxed heart.
I am sure once decorated, this will look fantastic!
Additionally, as part of the service we decorate them too!!, A cheese tower decorated at Delamere Manor, the Bride requested fruit to decorate and was keen to implement my suggestion of handmade wooden hearts with the names of the cheeses etched onto the wood, a great idea so that the guests can see what it is they are about to eat!
It was 30 degrees on that day and trying to decorate it in the function suite proved very difficult due to the heat! It wasn’t so much that the cheese was melting but more that I was!!!So, in the fridge it went for its fruit dressing!! Thank goodness there was enough space at the bottom of the fridge!!
We are thrilled that Hospitality is back up and running again after all this time, it makes us so happy to see people having fun out with friends and being able to socialise again, after all we are sociable creatures on the whole.
That said, hospitality is incredibly busy and with a shortage of chefs, there is increased pressure….
Something to bear in mind …. we cut cheese into portions, 65 – 85gram portions for cheese boards and platters. There are two pieces in each pack. The obvious advantages to this are, it saves on time, the sizes of the cheese on the board are consistent and of course portion control is far improved; we have had some great feedback and this service we offer is becoming more and more popular.
I have noticed that some of our customers now have a more extensive vegan menu, (I do partake in other activities besides reading menus!!)
Although vegan cheese is quite limited, this smoked vegan cheese by Applewood is lovely and worth a try, it does exactly what it says on the packet, it melts beautifully! it comes in slices or 200g blocks, let us know if you would like to try.
I would like to introduce ‘Smouldering Ember’ a gorgeous smoked cheese made by Butler’s farmhouse cheeses, it’s bold, flavoursome and most definitely smoky!
This cheese won ‘best British Enhanced Cheese’ at the Virtual Cheese Awards 2021!
It is matured for 4-6 months, smoked over oak chippings giving it a subtle smoky flavour with the nutty flavours of Red Leicester... worth a try! Priced at £2.60 for 200g block.
Finally, I sent an email out early last week with regards to Joseph Heler Butter, just to remind you the 125g Cheshire Butter has now been replaced with 250g, priced at £2.25 each.
As always, give us a call on 01829 770388 or email info@thegoodcheesecompany.co.uk if you need up to date product lists, a Cheese tower or anything related to cheese!!
