Appleby’s Coloured Cheshire is cheese of the month

Abbey Farm in Marchamley, near Shrewsbury is the home of this timeless classic British cheese.

Following on from previous generations, the cheese and butter making continues at the farm in the dairy where it all began many years ago. Appleby’s coloured Cheshire, has been selected as cheese of the month with its warm sunny colour, gives you the feeling that spring is in the air!

Taking a day to make and 12 weeks to mature, the provenance of this Cheshire, gives it a very unique flavour due to the soil, the grass pastures, the seasonality and of course the cows themselves. The raw milk is fresh and to that the cultures, rennet and salt from the Cheshire Plains are added, together with annatto seed to give it the warm colour.
